The tin-zinc mixture has a toxic effect on these undesirables and kills 99.9% of them within 24 hours. Villeroy & Boch nennt ihre Beschichtung AntiBac. Diese wird direkt in die Keramik und die WC-Sitze eingebrannt und hält so über die gesamte Lebensdauer des Produkts. Silber-Ionen reduzieren das Wachstum von Bakterien um mehr als 99,9%. So kann auch der Einsatz von Reinigungsmitteln reduziert werden. Die Beschichtung ist farblos. Sie müssen also nicht auf ein reines Weiß oder andere Farben bei Ihrer Badkeramik verzichten. Die Glasur ist zudem unbedenklich für die Natur, denn sie besteht aus Mikropartikeln und nicht aus Nanopartikeln.
Duravit nennt ihre Beschichtung HygieneGlaze. Diese Keramikglasur wird während des Brennvorgangs dauerhaft in die Keramik eingebrannt. Die Zinn-Zink-Mischung wirkt toxisch auf Bakterien und Keime und tötet diese innerhalb von 24 Stunden zu 99,9 % ab. Die Keramik bleibt so auch ohne den Einsatz von großen Mengen von Reinigungs- und Desinfektionsmitteln lange sauber und keimfrei. Auch die HygieneGlaze-Beschichtung ist nicht sichtbar.
